Books and publications
Val Edwards-Jones, a Professor of Medical Microbiology with over forty years’ experience in diagnostics, infection control, infectious disease and product development. An eminent speaker at conferences and in the media. Numerous appearances on Embarrassing Bodies offering advice on a variety of infectious conditions. Other TV appearances include discussions on hand hygiene on The One Show, Gut Health on Save Money Good Health, and super-gonorrhoea and food poisoning with Dr Pixie McKenna on public health matters.
Professor Val Edwards-Jones has extensive experience in higher education (research and teaching) and specialises in diagnosing infectious disease, infection control, antimicrobial therapy, biocides, wound infection and toxic shock syndrome.
Val has over one hundred peer reviewed publications and has successfully managed over twenty different research projects funded with over one million pounds of research grants from Industry, Charities, research councils and European funding. She has regularly presented her research at a large number of International Conferences and peer reviews for several International Journals.
She has written and number of book chapters in popular microbiology text books and is currently editing and contributing to a book entitled ‘Essential Microbiology for Wound Care’ with a number of key specialists in the wound care area. Val regularly writes for a number of magazines and daily newspapers.
